Using images from Picture Australia
Picture Australia is a collaborative online image database. Thumbnail images are provided - higher quality copies of images for either personal or commercial use can be ordered from the individual agencies contributing images to the Picture Australia service.
Picture Australia Conditions of Use Statement
All images from the Picture Australia website may be reproduced or saved for research or educational purposes, in accordance with the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth). If you intend to publish the images in print or online, other than as permitted by this Conditions of Use statement, you will need to get permission from the contributing agency. Further copyright information and advice is provided by the Australia Copyright Council at www.copyright.org.au.
How to request a copy of an image from Picture Australia
- Select the 'Request a Copy' icon
under the thumbnail image - Read the information on requesting copies of images for that agency
- Agencies who use shopping carts will display all their instructions on this page
- For all other agencies select the 'Request a Copy' icon again to link to their request form
- Fill in the request form by supplying the title, creator and image number (Some forms are designed to automatically insert this information)
- Agency contact details are provided so you can follow up on your request
How much will it cost?
Charges for reproduction services and copyright clearance will vary depending on the image, the proposed re-use and the agency that owns the image. The ‘request a copy’ page for each member agency provides links to price details where available.
How long will it take?
Turn around times for image requests vary and depend on the agency with whom you have placed the order. Where possible links to information about turn around times have been included on the 'request a copy' page for each member agency.
